The Celtic roots of Brittany are evident in the ornamentation of their furniture - the Bretons favoured richly carved decoration drawing on geometric, floral, animal and human motifs creating an often naive but imaginative country style. This is a charming and uncommon example of a provincial and primitive Breton sideboard - beautifully embellished with flowers and birds and distinctive brass hardware.
