A stunning late 19th century, ebonised, French bureau plât in the Empire style. This very stylish desk is double sided with decorative detailing on the back as well as the front. The cast lion's paw feet and sphinge ( a female sphinx ) heads are quintessentially Empire. The original dark green leather is still intact with a few scuff marks here and there. The desk belonged to a Parisian doctor in it's former life - we discovered correspondence left in the drawers. A covetable, tasteful and timeless desk for a discerning interior.
