A French directoire period trumeau with original dove grey painted finish. This trumeau would originally have been part of the boiserie or wood panelled decoration for a directoire period room. The mirrored panel would have been placed above the firplace and would have adjoined panels with matching geometric wood appliqué decoration. It is a beautifully decorative fragment dating from circa 1800. The directoire design in its pared back and geometric design is surprisingly contemporary in character - a fabulous piece of history for the modern home.
